Visitor and new tanks

So the Perret Orchard and Tank Garden of Texas had its first known visitor. He wasn’t a paying customer but at least he didn’t take anything of value. He has been nicknamed chicken duck.

We also expanded by adding two more tanks. Plans for adding a greenhouse are in the works.

Fruit trees and whiskey barrels

Tami and I were planning to add 3 more hanging box on Sunday morning. While doing that we accidentally ran across a 70% off sale of fruit trees and decided to them because we were planning to get them eventually. We were also planning to get wooden barrels to plant them in but couldn’t figure out where to buy them. We were at Home Depot and to my amazement we found 3 of them. They were from the Jack Daniels brewery in Tennessee. We asked the staff at Home Depot if they had more and they did at another store so Tami went and bought a dozen. We haven’t planted in them yet because we have to prep them with drainage holes and a plastic liner. I haven’t decided if I want to put wheels or feet of some sort on them.

The back yard garden is expanding again.

Barrels and trees lined up so the sprinkler can hit them.

Strawberries, zucchini, and seeds.

We’ve finished adding hanging boxes to the tanks. Tami has planted strawberries in two of them. The other two have some plant cups with seeds. It appears we have caterpillars feasting on our cucumbers and cabbage. So I have to figure out what to do with that. We have purchased bird netting and I need to decide how I’m going to support that but We don’t have anything they are interested in yet so I have some time.

Hanging boxes

I am now adding hanging boxes to the garden. Going to grow seeds in small containers inside. Also thinking about strawberries and herbs.
